As you remember, last week the creek flooded and I posted pictures (here). Well it happened again, but this time we decided to risk driving through it. It was only a couple feet deep and Russell and Royce held on to the side of the van standing on running boards while I drove them through. We laughed.

Empty: The New Full
Remember when it was cool to have e-mails? Back in like….1998. Nowadays, e-mail is basically obnoxious. I get tons of demanding messages each day. If it’s from a certain person, I get excited. But for the most part I’m bored by e-mail. I mean how many times can you enthusiastically read “90% off Viagra” or “Work on this for me when you have time, please!”...

This was recorded at a public school (B. Bernice Young Elementary School, Burlington, NJ), and apparently organized by Ms. Charisse Carney-Nunes, author of I Am Barack Obama. Notice the fifth verse. It is a rip off of Jesus Loves the Little Children! Then they rip off the Battle Hymn of the Republic at the end. Lyrics: Hmm, hmm, hmm Barack Hussein Obama He said we must all lend a hand To make...

New Fad: Serial Killers and Sex Trafficking
What a title, eh? I write this post with brazen disgust. So I was listening to Wally on TotalAxxess today, and he read off some statistics that really made me think. I asked him where he got the info and he e-mailed me an excerpt containing the stats from the Guttmacher Institute: HALF of all women who get an abortion will eventually go back for another.  And 10% of those women will have three...

Michigan : A Romance
1,132 miles later…. Thursday afternoon I left after work for Michigan to go visit two college buddies: Nathan and Darren. Before getting there, I stopped in Indianapolis and had dinner with a group from Verity - some of the most amazing friends ever. I asked Adam (my former college roommate) if he wanted to just pack some junk and come with me that night. He did! We drove off to Jackson,...

This was pretty cute. I think the MLB is trying to ban it. But I still liked the video. The kid totally ruined the dad’s moment.

Road Floodage!
An amazing thing happened on York Road. The road flooded. Sweeet. A few pictures: and And the best of all: a video that WON’T land me any new anchor positions… This provided some morning entertainment. I am looking for two things: a rainbow reminder from God, and the water to go down so I can leave for MI.

Death of a Vision or Coming of Fruition
I like to be melodramatic and talk about “death of visions” as if it is some 2012 end-of-the-world horror theory. “Death” has a good ring to it. When you tell people you’ve had a “death of a vision,” it makes them pity you. However, I’m starting to realize the whole “death of a vision” thing isn’t God. Embracing the “death of...

Running Today: FAIL
I worked today and only stopped for lunch. Later this afternoon I decided to go for a run. I remembered I hadn’t had any water all day, so I drank a bunch before leaving. I also hit up a little kombucha to give myself extra energy. I ran with Russell for one mile. Coming to the top of the hill my side ached like I was about to burst. I paused and my stomach started to convulse. The...

You Talk Big. Too Bad Time Talks Too.
The New York Times had a very interesting interactive on their website called “How Different Groups Spend Their Day.” It aggregates data from all of 2008 and breaks it down into different demographics (Men, Woman, Whites, Blacks, H.S. grad, Bachelor, Kids, no kids, etc). You also can click on each category to see how much time is spent each day on that item (depending on the...

In case you missed it, this is probably the coolest tennis point I have ever seen. It happened in the U.S. Open Men’s Semi-Finals yesterday. Even if you hate tennis (because they grunt or something), this is still amazing.

You say you remember. How come you’ve forgotten, then? Search YouTube for 9/11 videos. Half of them are “Bush is $@&#” videos or September 11 “Conspiracy” freaks. Let it sink in how divided and disrespectful we are of our former president and of our nation. We call ourselves the “United States of America.” Last time I looked in Congress (two days ago...

Guts or Stupidity? The Devil Uses Decorum
Warning: {Disclaimer} This is a slightly political post. My heart motives are pure though :) As many of you know, Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) made an emotional outburst during Pres. Obama’s healthcare speech in Congress. Here it is in case you missed it: The video…. Now Rep. Wilson has been hammered for this outburst. He has been ostracized, tar and feathered, and nearly...

High-Altitude Vision
Sometimes as Christians, we can get so distracted when looking at life through various lenses: We have our own personal perspective, we have “other’s” perspective, we have our authority’s perspective, and then we have God’s perspective. Unfortunately, God’s perspective gets unknowingly shoved to the backseat as we seek to excel in the eyes of mankind. We...

So we were driving home from Smyrna. I was driving a steady 75 mph. We come up on a firetruck in the fast lane. Lights flashing, sirens blaring - he merged over to let the faster traffic pass. That’s messed up. Glad he’s not going to my fire!

Labor Day - A Joke
What is Labor Day supposed to mean? I looked it up on Wikipedia. Basically, they don’t know what it means either. It is the stupidest holiday ever imagined. Whose idea was it to take the first Monday in September off? I mean do you know how much junk you have to do on a Monday? Labor Day is a stupid holiday invented by a guy who didn’t have a wife or a family. At our house we take the...

Umm...What's Your Name Again?
So I am terrible at remembering names. Here are some good points to fix this mental deficiency. Being able to remember names is a valuable asset in both the business and social arenas. It helps you build instant rapport with new contacts, and, as many companies place a premium on interpersonal and relationship-building skills, it makes a decidedly good impression on employers, too. So...

Who Am I?
One of my favorite theologians is Dietrich Bonhoeffer - a man martyred for standing up against Hitler during the early 20th century. He published many writings (currently I’m reading Ethics), and is a very influential voice in proclaiming truth, defending Christianity. When he was in prison, right before his death, Bonhoeffer struggled with something I think every person struggles with:...

Urinal Protocol Vulnerability
When a guy goes into the bathroom, which urinal does he pick?  Most guys are familiar with the International Choice of Urinal Protocol.  It’s discussed at length elsewhere, but the basic premise is that the first guy picks an end urinal, and every subsequent guy chooses the urinal which puts him furthest from anyone else peeing.  At least one buffer urinal is required between any two guys or...
